Emily Hartree | General Psychologist
Emily is a registered psychologist who works with adults, children and adolescents across a broad range of presentations, including anxiety and stress, depression, burnout, life transitions, self-esteem and identity, body image, disordered eating, interpersonal difficulties, executive functioning challenges and emotional regulation difficulties.
Emily strives to create a safe, accepting space that is:
Neurodiversity Affirming (ND affirming)
LGBTQI+ friendly
Trauma-informed
Weight-inclusive and eating disorder aware
Emily draws on a range of evidence-based approaches, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness-based techniques, and trauma-informed approaches and weaves them together in a way that is always tailored to the individual.
Specialised support for chronic pain. Emily's experience working in a chronic pain clinic has enriched her knowledge and skills in this area, giving her a strong understanding of the psychological impact of living with chronic pain and how to support clients navigating it alongside their broader mental health.
Accredited support for eating disorders. Emily is an accredited Butterfly Foundation practitioner, verified through their screening process. This accreditation reflects her specialised training and experience in supporting people with disordered eating and body image concerns.
Passionate about supporting children and families. In addition to working with adults, Emily has a passion for working with children, and for supporting parents in supporting their child. She understands that as a parent, you're not just looking for someone your child feels comfortable with, you also want to feel informed and involved along the way. Emily enjoys creatively adapting therapy for kids, drawing on an extensive range of play therapy tools designed to help children express themselves, build emotional awareness, and work through challenges in a way that feels natural and engaging for their age.
A message from Emily:
"If you've found your way here, I want you to know, I'm really glad you did. I know that taking that first step toward support, whether you're struggling or simply feeling like something needs to change, takes courage. My greatest hope is that from the moment you walk through the door, you feel a little lighter knowing you don't have to face things alone. I aim to create a space that feels warm, safe, and free from judgement, somewhere you can show up exactly as you are, without any pressure to have it all figured out.
I care deeply about the people I work with. For me, this isn't just about applying therapy techniques or quick fixes, it's about truly understanding you, your story, and what you need to feel like yourself again. Together, we'll take things at your pace, celebrate the small wins, and gently work toward a life that feels more like your own. I would be so honoured to be part of that journey with you.
Everyone's brain is wired differently, and I'm aware of and affirming to however your brain works, so I can best support you and build a therapeutic relationship that feels right for you. I have a particular interest in supporting adults with late-diagnosed neurodivergence, and understand what it means to have moved through life navigating a world that wasn't designed for you. I also understand the impact of years of high-masking, and stay attuned to this within our work together.”
